KTR’s Tweet Brings Back The Pain of Jagan’s Wound

Recently, BRS Working President K. Taraka Ramarao attended the BC Gharjana event held in Gadwal. While travelling to the venue, he passed through Mahabubnagar and shared photos of the under-construction Amara Raja Giga Corridor India’s largest lithium-ion battery unit.

This ₹9,500 crore investment by Amara Raja Group is now being developed in Telangana. It was originally planned for Andhra Pradesh but was shifted due to what many allege was political harassment under the YSRCP government.

The Amara Raja Group, founded by Galla Ramachandra Naidu in Chittoor, was one of the first-generation industrial investments in Andhra Pradesh. Over the years, it grew into a global conglomerate with an annual turnover of nearly ₹7,000 crore.

However, after Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy came to power, the company reportedly faced continuous pressure, including a factory closure notice over alleged pollution. Many believe this was political targeting, as the group’s current MD, Galla Jayadev, is a TDP MP.

At the time, even Amara Raja buses were attacked during a bandh in Chittoor. Despite its strong AP roots, the group was forced to seek court relief and eventually began moving major investments, including the giga project, to Telangana.

Jayadev chose to exit active politics before the 2024 elections, reportedly to protect the company from further harassment. KTR’s recent tweet has now reopened public discussion on the issue, highlighting how a ₹9,500 crore opportunity slipped out of Andhra’s hands.

The images he posted stirred strong emotions online. Many netizens from Andhra Pradesh expressed their frustration over Jagan’s alleged vendetta politics. They also reflected on the jobs and industrial growth the state lost due to such governance.

While the investment is now boosting Telangana’s economy, many in Andhra Pradesh are asking how long it will take to undo the damage and rebuild investor confidence.
