Amaravati Assembly Sees the First Walkout

After Governor’s Address the other day, Andhra Pradesh Assembly sat up for some real business this morning. The Proceedings began with a walkout over increased power prices. Leader of Opposition, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy went on to say that the government is proudly saying about free power up to 50 Units to SCs and STs but the scheme is nothing great.

“Very few families are getting benefitted from this schemes. SCs have just got 58 Crore and STs have got just 18 Crore. Earlier Power Bills used to be just 100 and after Chandrababu coming to power they have gone up to 500. Power Bills are giving shocks to SCs and STs,” Jagan said.

As a protest, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led his MLAs to walk out on the issue. Thus he entered into the history books as the leader of the first walk out in Velagapudi Assembly in the first session after the state bifurcation.
