Anantapur Farmers give shock to the government

Farmers in Anantapur have given a shock to the state government. The then Congress government acquired 12000 acres from farmers and gave them to Lepakshi Knowledge Hub Private Limited. Lepakshi was supposed to be investing 10000 Crores there and create employment to 1.5 Lakh youth. However the dubious company acquired 920 Crores from the lands and never invested a penny there. There are allegations that the money was routed to some paper companies of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Some of the farmers did not even get compensation for the lands there, and with the real estate boom, they are now selling of their lands which are already acquired by the government. This move of the farmers come as a shock to the government which is planning to allot these lands to setup industries there. Government is working to re-acquire at least 4000 acre from Lepakshi Hub and allot them to genuine investors.
