War like emergency for Pattiseema Project

 Andhra Pradesh government wants to advance Pattiseema Project to save crops in Krishna deltaSevere drought conditions threaten both the Telugu States. Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to deal with the drought to save the day. In order to save the crops in the Krishna delta, the government is planning to advance Pattiseema Project.

The project was to complete by March 2016 but the irrigation department is trying its level best to commission the project well in advance by September. Pattiseema is designed to move 8,000 cusecs of water everyday from Godavari to Krishna through a 170-km pipeline.

The government wants to run at least four pumps by this month-end to provide water to the Krishna delta. Erection of two pumps will be completed very soon and the remaining works will be executed on a war-footing. State government was firm on completing the first phase of the project by August 15 and run the trial run on the same day.
