While the entire state is in heat over the Special Status issue, now the Local issue is troubling the state as well. The state government is keen on shifting its administration to Amaravati as soon as possible but their efforts are met with a roadblock with the local’ status issue that is being faced by the children of Andhra Pradesh employees studying in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts.
Article 371D makes children of AP government employees who are currently studying in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy as ‘local’ students to Telangana. They will become ‘non-local’ when they migrate to Vijayawada and Guntur. As a result, their educational and job opportunities will be affected.
Employees are urging the government to resolve the issue before moving them to the Capital region. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will take up this issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Delhi tour and force him to bring a constitutional amendment if needed.
