One of the fiery leaders of the Telugu Desam Party is Anita Vangalapudi, the president from the Telugu Mahila community. Over the past five years, female leaders of the TDP have endured terrible psychological harassment, particularly through the morphing of images by YSRCP leaders and on social media. However, Anita Vangalapudi managed to survive these challenges.
Simultaneously, she navigated the situation in her constituency of Payakaraopet, securing an uncontested candidacy. In the previous election, due to opposition, she had to relocate to Kovvuru, where she faced defeat.
Undeterred, Anita sought her political future once again in Payakaraopet, a stronghold of the TDP.
Historically, TDP candidates have won seven times, while the Congress Party secured victory four times, and YSR Congress Party twice. In the 2014 elections, Anita, representing the TDP, won with a margin of 2828 votes against her nearest rival, Chengala Venkatarao of the YSRCP.
In the 2019 election, Golla Baburao, representing the YSRCP, emerged victorious. Jagan, the chief minister, nominated Kambhala Jogulu from Srikakulam district to the Rajya Sabha, subsequently granting him a ticket.
Despite being a reserved constituency, the Kapu social class holds significant influence, alongside the SC and BC communities.
The votes of fishermen in the 18 coastal villages of the constituency will be pivotal. Anita gained recognition within the Telugu Desam Party for her eloquence in speeches, having worked as a teacher prior to her political career.
Though initially struggling with political decisions, she has evolved into a strong, independent leader.
She now operates autonomously in her constituency, enjoying widespread support. With TDP’s substantial vote bank in Payakaraopet, Anita’s position remains favorable.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing parliamentary elections, CM Ramesh is contesting on behalf of the BJP in Payakaraopet, falling under Anakapalli.
He emphasizes the importance of the majority from Payakaraopet and pledges to address any financial challenges. A robust campaign in Payakaraopet is underway, with Anita Vangalapudi poised to reclaim the presidency.
