Anna canteen in Tenali was set on fire by unknown miscreants. At around 12 midnight on Saturday, the miscreants set fire to the door of Anna canteen and fled.
Some passers-by noticed and put out the fire and informed the police. Since the YCP government came to power, this Anna canteen has been lying unused.
A large number of TDP ranks reached the incident spot after learning about the matter. An altercation took place between the police and TDP workers.
The TDP cadre expressed anger that the police behaved roughly with them for complaining. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
The previous TDP government used to run Anna Canteens which used to feed the poor for five rupees a meal. They have helped the poor big time.
But the Jagan government stopped all of them immediately after coming to power.
Some of the canteens are being used for other purposes and those vacant have become addas for drunkards and other illicit activities.
TDP cadre alleges that this is an intentional work of the YCP cadre to insult and enrage them and create law and order issues in Tenali.
