Amara Raja has taken the initiative to set up an additional plant in Telangana, while Foxconn has signed an agreement with the Tamil Nadu government to establish a new plant with a substantial investment of Rs. 1600 crores. Both these industries, which were previously located in the joint Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, are now suffering significant losses in terms of employment and opportunities due to their expansion activities being redirected to neighbouring states.
Critics from the industrial circles have pointed fingers at the government policies as the reason behind this exodus. They believe that the YSRCP government should have provided necessary subsidies and favorable conditions to encourage the expansion of industries, but they have not taken the initiative to do so.
In contrast, during the previous TDP government, the then Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, worked diligently to convince companies like Foxconn to set up their industries in the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh.
As a result of the industries moving out, more than 10,000 youths have lost their jobs in the state. However, the government did not take sufficient measures to address this issue, and even the local public representatives did not respond effectively.
Meanwhile, neighbouring states like Telangana and Tamil Nadu have capitalized on the situation and attracted these companies to set up their operations in their states, which has further worsened the employment situation in Andhra Pradesh.
