AP to defy Center’s decision on PPAs!

Andhra Pradesh government is not at all happy with the Central Committees decision of not allowing Andhra Pradesh to cancel the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) unilaterally. The committee asked both the states to abide by the power division clauses in Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. AP government has requested the committee to take the legal issues and rights of the state involved in the issue but the committee totally ignored them.

AP is going to take up this issue once again with the committee in the next meeting between the three parties on Monday in Delhi. AP will clarify the committee that if both the states have not come on a common ground, then the issue should be solved on the opinion of Union Solicitor General or the Supreme Court but it is not right to totally ignore the legal issues. AP will also find fault with the committee’s final draft decision being prepared well before the meeting on Monday.
