AP Volunteer Kills Woman For Gold Jewelry

Andhra Pradesh volunteer system has come under scrutiny ever since JanaSena chief Pawan Kalyan raised doubts about the misuse of this widespread system. He suspected a large scale public data misuse through the same.

Coming to the topic, a new incident that happened in the 95th ward of Purushottapuram, GVMC has caught the attention.

Ward volunteer, Rayavarapu Venkatesh(26) is suspected to have killed an elderly woman to get hold of gold jewelry that she was wearing.

Going into the story, Venkatesh works part time at a fast food center that is operated by Kotagiri Srinivas. On Sunday night, Venkatesh went to Srinivas’s house at 10PM and then returned to the fast food center.

Later, Srinivas went to his house at 12:30 AM in the night. To his shock, he found his mother Kotagiri Varalakshmi (72) in lifeless condition. He quickly dialed to the police who arrived on the scene.

The police have initially suspected that the ward volunteer, Venkatesh could have strangled Varalakshmi to death while attempting to snatch the gold chain she was wearing. He is in police custody now and is being investigation on murder charges.
