Andhra Pradesh’s upcoming capital will be the first capital city in the country to have a National Highway linked waterway. There is a steamer service between Rayapudi of Guntur district and Ibrahimpatnam of Krishna district available from 6.30 am to 6 pm every day.
This service will reduce the travel of 30 to 36 km to reach Vijayawada to 16 km by the water way. This will be of more help to the residents of the capital region once the capital is constructed as administrative services are going to be spread from Tullur to Vijayawada.
It is also said that the government is planning to modernize the waterway further by introducing boats and cruises. This will also improve the tourists flow to the capital and it will be a uniqueness to the capital as the first capital city with direct waterway from Hyderabad-Vijayawada-Kolkata National Highway.
