Badvel: Will Naidu Trust Bijivemula Family Again?

Badvel is a strong forte of TDP in the erstwhile Kadapa district. TDP has won all the elections from its inception to 1999 except 1989. Bijivemula Veera Reddy’s family has a complete hold of TDP here.

But then, TDP did not win the constituency since the 2004 elections. Things became much worse after it became a reserved constituency.

But the Bijivemula family is dictating the party’s candidate here.

Even then, TDP did not win a single election after that. Obulapuram Rajasekhar contested on a TDP ticket in 2019 but lost.

Gunthoti Venkata Subbaiah who won passed away bringing a by-election. TDP did not contest the by-election.

Obulapuram Rajasekhar became inactive in the party after the 2019 defeat. Bijivemula Ritesh Reddy is being active in the constituency to maintain a hold on the party.

It has to be seen if TDP leadership takes its own decision or leaves it to the Bijivemula family once again like in the case of previous elections.
