YCP’s mouthpiece Sakshi media is know for spitting venom on YCP’s political opponents. They did the same with Gitam University several years ago and are having to pay the price for it now.
Incidentally, Gitam University chief MVVS Murthy had previously filed a defamation suit against Sakshi Media for reporting that the university was built on grabbed lands. These reports were published in 2010.
The second additional court of Vizag has now ordered Sakshi media to pay Rs 5 lakh defamation settlement to Gitam university. That’s not all, the media house will have to add 12% interest from the day the case was lodged and another 6% interest from the day the judgement is out.
The university had seeked Rs 1 crore in defamation case and now, the court has ordered Sakshi to pay Rs 5 lakh plus interest.
Gitam stated that they’re had filed for land to built the university back when YSR was the CM in 2005. They gunned down Sakshi’s reports that the university was built on illegal land.
