Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna will be leading a political delegation of MLAs from Anantapur to New Delhi to lobby for a development package for the drought-prone district. He will be reaching out to Union Ministers of Water Resources, Rural Development, Surface Transport, Urban Development and others to seek funds under the Desert Development Programme (DDP).

The delegation will comprise of Ministers Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Paritala Sunitha, MPs and MLAs. They will be touring Delhi for three days starting from June 17. Anantapur is considered as one of the most backward districts in Andhra Pradesh with least rainfall.
The district had faced drought for 13 years in the last 18 years. The delegation will be seeking from center – Rs.300 crore for drinking water schemes, Rs.450 crore more for roads on a priority basis.
