Bapatla: TDP In Hibernation Mode

Kona Raghupathi is the sitting MLA of Bapatla from the YSR Congress. He defeated TDP candidate Annam Satish Prabhakar in the 2014 and 2019 elections.

Satish Prabhakar was made MLC during Chandrababu Naidu‘s government and later shifted to BJP after the 2019 elections defeat.

After two consecutive terms as MLA, there is significant anti-incumbency in Kona Raghupathi. There are allegations of massive corruption as well.

But then, TDP’s in charge here is totally in hibernation mode and is not active. As a result, YSR Congress is feeling better even with so much anti-incumbency.

At the same time, Satish Prabhakar is trying to get hold of the constituency using his past relations in TDP. But then, Satish contesting from BJP will be a problem. And there is the inactive in charge of TDP.

It has to be seen if the Opposition will give the seat once again to the ruling party with their dull.

TDP last won this constituency in the 1985 election. Kona Raghupathi’s father, Kona Prabhakara Rao was a three-time MLA from the Congress party in between 1967 and 1983.

TDP, however, will stand a chance if Annam Satish Prabhakar ditches BJP and rejoins TDP.
