In a shocking incident from Tirupati, followers of YSRCP leader and former MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy have been accused of attacking a girijan youth named Pawan. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, especially as it may fall under the SC, ST Atrocities Act. YSRCP’s social media in-charge, Anil Reddy, reportedly kidnapped Pawan and took him to his residence in MR Pally.
There, Pawan was beaten up brutally while Anil Reddy’s associates filmed the entire act. The disturbing video has gone viral on social media, drawing strong condemnation. Reports suggest that Anil Reddy was pressuring Pawan to hand over a shop located in front of the Srinivasam guest house. This alleged act of extortion has exposed the disturbing pattern of attacks in the area.
Just a few days ago, another incident involving Bhumana’s followers was reported. They allegedly assaulted a man and demanded that he surrender his car decor shop, also in Tirupati. One of the accused in that case is Chaitanya Yadav, who is known to be a close aide of Bhumana. These repeated incidents have created fear among local business owners and residents.
Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha responded strongly, stating that such acts will not be tolerated under the name of settlements. She assured the public that the accused individuals in the Tirupati attack have already been taken into police custody. The Home Minister added that those who orchestrated the violence will also be brought to justice without delay.
She further criticised the YSRCP leadership, calling these attacks proof of the rowdy behaviour exhibited by some party leaders. Taking a direct jab at Ex CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, she questioned whether the Pulivendula MLA would visit the victims and stand by them. Her remarks have intensified political tensions surrounding the incident.
