Can India Finish The Nationwide Lockdown After Three Weeks?

The Coronavirus infection cases in India have crossed the 1100 mark. We are already into the Sixth day of the 21 days Nationwide Lockdown. The cases in the country are getting doubled every five days. On the other side, Cabinet Secretary announced there is no truth in the rumors that then three weeks Lockdown will be extended after the three-weeks period lapses.

India had stopped the International Flights and the quarantine of the last international passenger will be finished by April 7th. So, there is no chance of importing the disease from other countries. If at all any of these persons have contracted the virus to anyone here, those persons will also be identified by the end of the Lockdown. They will be isolated as well.

The government is thinking on the lines that there will be no chances of Community Spread due to the Lockdown. That means by the end of the Lockdown, all the infected will be identified and isolated. Since there is no chance of importing the disease, the Government is hoping that things would be normal.

But then, this is all about the ideal situation and will work only when the Lockdown is religiously followed. So, it is easier said than done in a big country like India. The actual scenario can be known only in mid-April. In case, the cases continue to increase, brace up for another speech by the Prime Minister on April 14th
