Can KCR Stop YSR’s Popular Scheme?

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao the other day informed the Assembly that Telangana will very soon not need the free power to agriculture when the state government completes all the irrigation projects as planned.

“Once the projects are complete, Telangana will no longer depend on borewells for irrigation,” the Chief Minister said. The state currently has nearly 20 lakh agriculture pumpset connections and the government had allotted one lakh connections more recently.

Free power to agriculture is one of the most crucial schemes of Former CM Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy since 2004. It was a very crucial scheme which helped YSR to dethrone the TDP government in 2004 after it ruled for nine years. Stopping the scheme will be a great achievement for KCR as that would mean completion of all the planned projects.
