BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha faced a setback in the Supreme Court as the magistrate refused to give her bail and asked her to approach the Trial Court first.
In her bail plea, Kavitha challenged her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam case. She also challenged her remand stating that it doesn’t adhere to Article 141 and Section 19 (1) of the PMLA Act.
Kapil Sibal, representing Kavitha, urged the Supreme Court not to remand the case to the High Court, expressing dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in the country.
The Supreme Court said that as far as the bail is concerned, the case has to go through the Trial Court first. The judge also ordered the Trail Court to decide immediately if a bail petition is filed.
Kavitha was arrested by the ED last week for her alleged involvement in the money laundering of the Delhi Liquor Policy. Even Delhi’s Chief Minister Aravind Kejriwal was also arrested in connection with the same case last night.
