The Central government has announced Swach Survekshan awards in various categories. In Andhra Pradesh, the awards went to Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati, Rajamahendravaram and of course Vizag.
Vizag won the special category ministerial award at the national level. On the state level, Rajamahendravaram won the ministerial award. Guntur, Tirupati and Vijayawada won the Swacha super league cities awards.
Speaking about 5 AP cities winning awards, AP Swacchandhra Corporation chairman Pattabhiram attributed the awards to CM Chandrababu’s swacchandhra mission. He said it was all due to the Swacchandhra programmes taken up by the CM.
Pattabhiram thanked the officials, sanitation workers and people for making Swacchandhra a reality.
It has to be noted that Swacchandhra initiative gained momentum under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu. The state government takes up cleanliness drives every month on the third Saturday.
To motivate staff, a theme is set for every month like e-waste collection and safe recycling programme. The idea behind the initiative is to turn waste into wealth.
The initiative is part of CM Chandrababu’s Swarnandhra 2047 vision.
