Chandrababu Naidu Government Readies Land Options for Tesla

The Andhra Pradesh government is trying hard and doing everything possible to make sure Tesla starts its manufacturing unit in AP.

The automotive and clean energy company Tesla is the latest target for the state government as other states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are trying to woo the American company.

It is known that Tesla which is into AI backed electric vehicle manufacturing is looking at starting a production unit in India. AP is trying to take advantage of this.

The AP government is already giving subsidies to companies. Coupled with that, a long coast, ports and highways are ideal to ink a deal feels AP government.

Last month, during his US trip, Minister Lokesh met up with Tesla executives in Texas. He invited Tesla to set up its unit in AP.

On the other hand, the AP government is preparing to ready the land necessary for the unit, if the deal falls in place. Five days back, APIIC chairman M Ramaraju visited the Menakuru industrial zone. He reviewed the land and facilities that will be required by Tesla.

On its part, the AP government is preparing to allot 500 acres to Tesla in Menakuru industrial zone. The other option being considered is land in Kris city, which is being developed near Krishnapatnam port and Sri City.

The government feels that Sri City, Kris City and Menakuru are close to Krishnapatnam port. Also, proximity to Tirupathi and Chennai airports and highways makes it an ideal spot for the unit is AP government’s calculation.




In 2016, though many states competed for KIA manufacturing unit, due to Chandrababu Naidu’s brand image, it set up a unit in Anantapur. The AP government is hoping brand Chandrababu will work it’s magic once again to get Tesla to Andhra Pradesh.
