Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said reforms are the foundation for creating wealth and attracting investments, as he received the ‘Business Reformer of the Year 2025’ award at the Economic Times Excellence Awards in Mumbai. The award was presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Chandrababu said Andhra Pradesh is focusing on speed in both doing business and delivering governance. He highlighted the use of technologies like AI Doctor, AI Tutor and AI Agronomy to improve public services, adding that reforms have always been central to development. He pointed out that the impact of earlier reforms can be seen in cities like Hyderabad.
Inviting industrialists to invest, he said Andhra Pradesh offers strong opportunities across sectors along with faster approvals. He expressed confidence that such recognition will help attract more investments into the state.
On Amaravati, he described it as a rare opportunity to build a city from scratch. The vision is to develop it as a future-ready, eco-friendly capital with strong infrastructure, calling it a “Hyderabad Plus” model.
He also spoke about balancing development with welfare. Referring to the P4 initiative, he said financially stronger sections of society should support the bottom 20 percent, ensuring inclusive growth.
On energy, Chandrababu stressed the importance of low-cost power. He said the state is focusing on green energy, battery storage, pumped storage and green ammonia, with a target of 160 GW generation, of which significant progress has already been made.
He announced that the foundation stone for a Google data centre in Visakhapatnam will be laid on the 28th of this month, pointing to the rising demand for infrastructure in the digital economy.
Touching on national issues, he supported the Women’s Reservation Bill and said equal representation is essential. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying reforms and policy changes are helping India move towards becoming a top global economy.
Chandrababu concluded by saying Andhra Pradesh aims to regain its leading position, just like it did during the IT boom, and should now focus on emerging sectors like AI and quantum technology.
Reforms may sound like policy language, but in politics, they ultimately translate into perception, and perception is what decides investment, growth, and power.
