Andhra Pradesh government may have taken a cue from the Telangana government. The state government has taken a decision to increase the taxes on Petrol and Diesel. Till now, the state is collecting 31% as VAT on Petrol and 22.25% on Diesel. The government is now going to impose extra 4 Rupees Tax to these taxes.
The government has lost income on these fuels as their prices fell down heavily due to fall in international markets. Telangana government already increased the VAT a fort night ago to make up for the decreasing income and now AP has taken the same route.
Andhra Pradesh government has informed the people that there is no other way now except to burden people a bit as the financial position of the state is already in doldrums. The gazette notification regarding the price hike was released a short while ago and the new prices will come in to effect from today midnight.
