Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP Supremo Chandrababu Naidu’s Business acumen raked in as much as 56 Crore to Telugu Desam Party’s treasury. This amount is collected from the membership drive in both the Telugu States. The party has got 9 Lakh new members in Telangana and 47 Lakh members in Andhra Pradesh.
The party charged 100 Rupees as Membership also promising special benefits like Rs 2 lakh accident insurance coverage, 10 per cent to 50 per cent concession in select private hospitals in both states in hospitalization and diagnostic tests and 10 per cent bus fare discount in a private travel agency. On the other side, no party’s membership drive is as successful as TDP.
The ruling party in Telangana, TRS is likely to get 50 Lakh new members. The party has collected Rs 50 for active membership (Rs 25 for SC, STs) and Rs 10 for ordinary members. As the party promised 2 Lakh Insurance for all its members, it has to shell money from its own coffers as the insurance premium costs about Rs 15/Rs 16 per head and card Rs 15 among other expenses. Congress claims to have enrolled 15 lakh members, will get Rs 75 lakh towards membership fee at the rate of Rs 5 per head. On the other hand, BJP is offering free membership.
