Andhra Pradesh Government’s Sankranthi gift to the Below Poverty Line families is a big hit with commoners. Under this scheme, government distributed 6 free items required to make food items for Sankranthi.
Even though the decision was taken late, the government procured them in the last minute and managed to distribute them to the white card holders. It is said that there is a great response for ‘Chandranna Sankranthi Kanuka’ from the beneficiaries. Few opposition funded media like Sakshi made a big hue and cry about the corruption in this scheme but all those allegations ended up as farce.
Government explained that there are some price disparities in some procurement as the orders are placed in the last minute and according to the ground level observation, common people did not care about it at all. The Chief Minister is said to be very happy with the success of the scheme. And on the other side, the response of the government funded ‘Sankranthi Sambaralu’ is also good.
