Clean India turning in to photo op for celebs?

Modi-floor-sweepPrime Minster Narendra Modi started Swachh Bharat campaign on 2nd October and requested everyone to dedicate no less than two hours for every week to make a clean India. The campaign received excellent response with Modi himself challenging few movie stars to take part of it. Later several other celebs did it voluntarily which is truly a good thing to have.

But the big concern is, Is Swachh Bharat turning in to a photo op for celebs? Looking at the way it’s been so far, creating Clean India by 2019 Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary could still remain as a dream. Modi is highly successful in creating the awareness around the campaign by involving celebs but these celebs would never go out to rural areas. The standard procedure is, when a celeb has decided to hold the broom on the street, local media will be informed but most of the times after the media coverage is over these celebs will leave the spot shouldering rest of the cleaning to their groups.

Would this truly make a big difference? With out creating a proper garbage system in India, Swachh Bharat may not mean much for us. Do you agree?
