Cold War between BRS MLA and MLC

The BRS is facing mounting challenges from multiple fronts. BRS leader KT Rama Rao recently issued an apology to the women’s community for his controversial “break-dance” comments about RTC buses. Meanwhile, both Congress and BJP leaders in Telangana have made bold predictions about the future of the BRS.

Congress leader Revanth Reddy suggested that the BRS might merge with the BJP, with KCR potentially being offered a Governor’s post, while BJP’s Bandi Sanjay speculated that the BRS could merge with Congress, leading to Kavitha securing a Rajya Sabha seat.

Amid these developments, factionalism within the BRS in Janagaon has flared up again. The tensions that surfaced during the Telangana Assembly elections have not yet subsided. The rivalry between MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and MLC Pochampalli Srinivas Reddy has intensified, with their respective supporters clashing.

Recently, supporters of Pochampalli were angered when the Palla faction allegedly tore down a flex banner set up for MLC Pochampalli’s birthday. They warned that they would not remain silent if their leader is targeted. On the other hand, the Palla group is keen on maintaining control over the constituency.

During the 2023 Assembly elections, tensions escalated when Srinivas Reddy was passed over for a ticket in favor of Palla. This rivalry has since evolved into a bitter contest for supremacy in Janagaon. The ongoing dispute has caused concern among the constituents, with fears that the two factions may eventually resort to violence.

Political analysts suggest that it would be wise for the BRS leadership to step in and resolve this dispute to prevent further division. Given the BRS’s recent defeats in both the Assembly and Parliament elections, many within the party believe that such internal conflicts could be detrimental at the constituency level.
