It is now confirmed that Congress party will be contesting the upcoming bielection of Tirupati Assembly seat. AP PCC President Raghuveera Reddy announced Sridevi as the party’s candidate there. This is the second instance Congress contesting a bielection after Nandigama.
Both these seats have TDP sitting MLAs who lost their lives midway and their kin contesting the bielection. It is a usual custom for opposition parties to cooperate for unanimous election whenever a sitting MLA expired in office and his kin is contesting bielection.
However Congress did not contest the bielection which was facilitated due to the death of YSR Congress MLA Shoba Nagi Reddy. Main Opposition party YSR Congress is not putting its candidate here. The Bielection was necessitated due to the sudden demise of sitting TDP MLA, Venkataramana and his wife Sugunamma is contesting there on TDP ticket
