Congress Further Corners BJP on Special Status

The Special Status issue seems to have come as a lifeline for Congress Party which is almost beaten to death in Andhra Pradesh and the government. KVP Ramachandra Rao’s Private Member Bill has come as a huge opportunity for the party. BJP which will be due for a big embarrassment if the bill is passed in the Upper House.

The Center successfully delayed it till now but could not any longer. As soon as Rajya Sabha took it up for discussion, Congress deployed former Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh who reiterated that Special Status the right of Andhra Pradesh as granted by himself back then and agreed by the opposition which is in ruling now.

Man Mohan Singh went on to say that government needs to honour the promise if the respect of the house and a promise made in the house should be upheld. BJP which is reluctant to help Andhra Pradesh is embarrassed in the house with the former Prime Minister’s speech in the Upper House.
