Congress Intensifies Special Status Pressure

In a bid to make a comeback in Andhra Pradesh, Congress Party is leaving no stone untouched in cornering the central government on the Special Status issue. On Tuesday morning, Congress MP, KVP Ramachandra Rao moved a breach of privilege motion against Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Congress MPs handed over the notice to the chairman, Hamid Ansari.

Congress claims that the finance minister had ‘misled the House’ by indicating that special status for Andhra Pradesh is ruled out because of the recommendations of the 14th Finance Commission. If the motion is taken up and moved in the upper house, it will be a huge embarrassment for the ruling BJP.

Even though Congress can make no much impact on the Center on Special Status issue, it will be successful in belittling BJP in the people of Andhra Pradesh. They wanted to give an impression that they are fighting for the interests of the state. It has to be seen if AP people forget about the bifurcation and embrace Congress for this fight for Special Status.
