Congress Senior Leader Veerappa Moily objecting the special incentives to Andhra Pradesh in Rajya Sabha has stunned many. Congress was backing AP’s claims strongly until the start of this Parliament session. This sudden U turn come as a surprise. Incidentally, Congress high command also did not object the opinion of Veerappa Moily.
It is said that Congress wants to keep the interests in Andhra Pradesh aside for some time as there are no elections in the near future and also Congress position in the state is not much promising. Instead they want to rake up this issue to get some mileage in the neighbouring states like Karnataka and Tamil Nadu which will go for elections in near future.
However it is difficult for Congress to get back on the promises as all of them were made by itself when it is in the power. We will have to see where this politics of Congress and BJP land Andhra Pradesh in! The state is already battling severe financial woes in the wake of the state bifurcation and also left stranded at cross roads with out a capital.
