60 percent of the total number of employees in the construction industry across the country, belong to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana while nearly 65 per cent of the major infrastructure companies have their headquarters in either states. However that does not keep the industry in good shape here. Several issues plague the industry.

Despite having such prominence, governments always ignored several key aspect related to the industry like labour issues, taxation, banking, delay in contractual disputes. From 2009 to 2015, the industry had witnessed a steep decline in consumption of steel, cement and construction equipment.
Also citing lack of proper skills, major infrastructural projects in both the states are handed over to foreign companies. For this reason, the construction of Amaravati from the scratch and the proposed 100 smart cities across the nation do not interest the industry biggies.
