The news of Coronavirus infecting the Bachchans has come as a shock to the Indian Cinema. Amitabh shot for a Corona awareness short film, KBC Promos, and Gulabo Sitabo promotions all from home during the Lockdown. He also dubbed for an ad from at the dubbing studio in his office, Janak, which is next to his family home, Jalsa in Juhu.
Despite taking all the necessary precautions, the infection has happened and it only undermines the threat of Coronavirus to mankind. This news will send the shudders down the spine of filmmakers and artists and will only delay the shootings further. That will also impact the cinemas’ re-opening.
The stars who are in two minds until now about resuming the shootings will further hesitate to get back to work. We can safely assume that 2020 is more or less done for the Cinema industry and it has turned out to be the worst possible year in many decades. The plight of the film workers and daily-wagers will be unimaginable.
In the last 24 hours, there were 28,637 cases in the country and there were 551 casualties as well. That takes the total number of cases to 849,553 and deaths to 22,674. Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad which house the three biggest film industries of the country are among the worst-hit cities.
