Danger bells for Agriculture in Telangana!

KCR-Farmer-telanganaTelangana state is tangled in severe drought conditions with six of the total 10 districts registering rain fall less by 60%. When we consider October 1st to December 17th, there is only 50.8 mm rainfall in Telangana while 126.5mm is considered as normal. During the same time last year, the rainfall is 240.5mm.

Karimnagar has severe drought with 81% less rainfall followed by Nizamabad 76%, Adilabad 72%, Medak 68%, Warangal 63%, Ranga Reddy 58%. All these six districts registered more than 50% less rain fall and are considered as drought prone districts.

The Power woes and drought conditions have taken severe toll in the farmers of the state. The farming in Rabi season is 27% less in Telangana. This is the lowest ever farming in Telangana in the last 5 years.The condition of the laid crops is also not guaranteed as a severe power crisis is looming large on the state in the upcoming summer. The farmers in the newest state of the country are under severe pressure and crisis, they are awaiting government’s intervention to save their lives.
