Dendulur – TDP’s Gurantee Seat

Chintamaneni Prabhakar

Chintamaneni Prabhakar established himself as a prominent figure in West Godavari politics. Despite widespread expectations of his victory in the last election, he unexpectedly lost. Abbayya Chaudhary, who had been residing in London, returned to India, nominated himself, and emerged victorious. Previously, his father held no significant position even at the mandal level.

However, their victory brought them newfound recognition, showcasing their capabilities. Dendulur Constituency, situated near Eluru, encompasses the Kolleru catchment area, including Dendulur, Pedapadu, Pedavegi, and Eluru rural mandals, where the Kamma social class holds considerable influence.

Historically, leaders from any faction of the Kamma social group within the party have been elected as MLAs. Out of the 15 elections conducted so far, Kamma social class leaders have secured victory 14 times. In the last election, a fierce contest unfolded between YSRCP and TDP. YSRCP candidate Abbayya Chaudhary secured victory with a margin of approximately 16 thousand votes.

CM Jagan has once again fielded him in the upcoming election. Abbayya Chaudhary, who had been residing in London until the last election, entered politics as the successor of his father, Kotharu Ramachandra Rao.

Despite his sudden appearance shortly before the polling date in the last election, little was known about Abbayya Chaudhary, and even after winning, he predominantly stayed in London. His father currently acts as a shadow MLA.

Chintamaneni Prabhakar’s tenure was marked by extensive engagement with the people, earning him sympathy within the constituency. Many believe he will continue to work diligently for the people, with the belief that his victory is assured due to concerns over strong opposition to the government. However, some oppose Chintamaneni’s aggressive approach.

Although there was initially a proposal to allocate the seat to BJP, it is evident that Chintamaneni will contest again, firmly believing that his defeat in the last election was due to alleged EVM manipulation.

He is confident that this time, such manipulation will not occur, and he anticipates winning with a significant majority, having previously secured victories with a margin of at least seventeen thousand votes on two occasions.
