‘Chandrababu Naidu’ has become a hot topic in Telangana Politics thanks to the Banakacharla Project.
The BRS is trying to corner the Congress Party in the name of this project, saying that CM Revanth Reddy, being Chandrababu’s Agent, is acting against the interests of Telangana.
Now, Congress Spokesperson, Sama Rammohan Reddy, made a sensational allegation.
He alleged that KTR secretly met Nara Lokesh seeking support for the Jubilee Hills By-election.
Reddy also alleged that KTR even offered to field a candidate who is mutually agreeable.
Sama announced that he would reveal more details if KTR publicly acknowledged the meeting. It has been a couple of days but there is no response from the BRS camp.
TDP has a significant support base in the Jubilee Hills constituency thanks to the Settler Population in the area.
The By-election is necessitated because of the sudden demise of the sitting MLA, Maganti Gopinath.
Gopinath was first elected on a TDP ticket in 2014 but defected to the BRS. But he still holds good clout with the TDP High Command.
BRS, which drew a blank in the Parliament elections, is eager to win this seat at any cost.
So the meeting is likely due to that desperation.
But if the meeting has really happened, it will be an interesting political equation.
TDP is currently in power in Andhra Pradesh and would definitely try its luck in Telangana Politics sooner or later.
Alliances will become key for TDP’s revival in Telangana. But the party has all three options open.
BJP is a natural choice because of the existing alliance in Andhra Pradesh and in Delhi.
BRS is also an option, this meeting (if it happened) suggests.
Chandrababu Naidu and Revanth Reddy are close to each other. But TDP can not ally with Congress because it can not risk offending the BJP. But in 2023, it is an open-secret that TDP voters rallied with the Congress.
Supporting a BRS candidate will be an interesting political move at this juncture.
