Doctor Gets Memo for Ignoring TRS MLA’s Call?

Dr V Vineeth, senior resident (general surgery) performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on an accident victim has been served a memo by Nizamabad government medical college for not taking an MLA’s call as he was busy. Nizamabad (rural) TRS MLA Bajireddy Govardhan claims to have called to know the patient’s condition.

Vineeth is doing his compulsory one-year rural stint at the hospital. There is a huge outcry against the Memo issued and the MLA’s arrogance. “How can one expect a doctor performing CPR to respond to a call when it is the job of hospital administrator?” they question.

After the outcry, the Hospital superintendent backtracked from the issue saying that it was a ‘nominal memo’ with no intention of taking action against him. Unfortunately, the patient from Dichpally died soon after being shifted to a nearby private hospital.
