Tuni municipal vice chairman poll has been postponed for the fourth time due to lack of quorum.
A minimum of 15 members are required for the election to take place. But the present number is 10, leading to cancellation.
It is being said the YSRCP councilors are being kept away from the poll to postpone municipal elections. It is being alleged that the 17 councilors are being withheld by ex minister Dadisetti Raja at a secret place.
Due to this, under unavoidable circumstances, the election had to be postponed said the joint Collector. He said they will soon notify when the next election will be held.
Incidentally, there is a rule that if the quorum is not met twice, they can go ahead with the poll irrespective of the quorum. But the officials have said they will consult with the election commission and release a new date.
Meanwhile, the TDP councilors are angry that the election has been postponed four times. They tried to go to the place where the YCP councilors were withheld. But the police stopped them to avoid a face-off.
There is an argument that 9 of the missing councilors want to join TDP. But the YSRCP is not allowing them to come out, said angry TDP councilors.
