Elections in AP Expected in March?

Elections in Andhra Pradesh

There are indications that the Lok Sabha elections might be held a month ahead of schedule. Government sources suggest that the BJP, buoyed by its victories in three states, is eager for the Lok Sabha elections to be held sooner.

Accordingly, the Central Election Commission is likely to release the schedule in February, and if this happens, the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh could take place in the first half of March.

The movements and activities of party leaders in the Telugu states align with the possibility of early elections. Following the BJP’s success in recent state elections, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, there is a sense of urgency within the party in Telangana as well, contributing to the speculation of early elections.

Government sources estimate that the Lok Sabha elections might be held a month earlier than scheduled, with the election schedule possibly being released in mid-February instead of March. If this scenario unfolds, the Lok Sabha elections in the Telugu states are anticipated to take place between March 10-15.

Both the YSRCP and TDP in Andhra Pradesh have already entered election mode, and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has indicated that the election schedule might be announced in February. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has initiated the process of selecting candidates by making changes to the in-charges of constituencies.
