If only men have wings, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s life and the state finances would have been a lot more comfortable. The just in Chief Minister of the truncated state is a busy man flying across the length and breadth of the country and other parts of the World hunting for investments to the state.
Given the security concerns of Naidu, he is opting for private choppers to ferry to the districts. As the state operates from Temporary capital, Hyderabad, Naidu oftens shuffle between Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh. However these trips are becoming financial burden of sort to the state as it had to spend 15 Crores in the last 8 months for Naidu’s air trips.
And so the state is planning to buy its own chopper to cut down the cost. Undivided AP state had an Augusta Westland helicopter, which was destroyed in a fire accident at Begumpet airport in December 2012. The then Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy proposed to buy a chopper but some how the idea did not materialize. Now the new chopper will incur 70 Crores for the state government.
