The Cash for Vote case had taken a crucial twist after Attorney General, Mukul Rohatgi instructed the Governor, ESL Narasimhan to supervise the case investigation. The Attorney General opined that the Section 8 of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act mandates the Governor with special powers, since the two states share the capital, Hyderabad, and two different police forces have jurisdiction in the city.

With this the case took a major turn especially after there are allegations of Political Vendetta as ACB investigating the case is reporting to Telangana government. With the Attorney General recognizing AP Police’s jurisdiction in Hyderabad and Special Powers to the Governor, AP Government’s argument stands tall. Legal Experts say AP Police can even have their own police stations in their jurisdiction.
The governor reportedly had sought clarity over Section 8 and Rohatgi instructed Narasimhan to summon the two state police and get them to report to him on this case. He asked the Governor to use special powers under section 8 of AP Reorganisation Act to broker peace between CMs. Andhra Pradesh government will welcome this move as the first step to bring law and order in Hyderabad under Governor’s control. However this instruction will definitely not please the Telangana government.
