Chief Election Commissioner of India, VS Sampath had announced the schedule of General elections a short while ago. Along with the Parliament elections, Assembly elections of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will also take place simultaneously. As a result, election code of conduct came in to effect across the nation. For the first time, None of the Above (NOTA) will also be made available to voters this time. A slip with your vote choice will also be given by the EVMs after you cast your vote.
The election will take place in a total of nine phases this time. Here is the schedule:
April 7th – 2 states and 6 Parliamentary constituencies
April 9th – 6 states and 9 Parliamentary constituencies
April 10th – 14 states and 92 Parliamentary constituencies
April 12th – 3 states and 5 Parliamentary constituencies
April 17th – 13 states and Union Territories and 122 Parliamentary constituencies
April 24th – 12 states and 117 Parliamentary constituencies
April 30th – 9 states and 89 Parliamentary constituencies
May 7th – 7 states and 64 Parliamentary constituencies
May 12th – 3 states and 41 Parliamentary constituencies
Counting will take place on May 16th and results will be out on the state date. Andhra Pradesh goes to polls on April 30th (Telangana) and May 7th (Seema Andhra). Assembly elections will take place simultaneously.
