GHMC falls short of target for Hyderabad Metro!

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) once again let down the Hyderabad Metro Project by missing the deadline for giving the right of way for the concessionaire. The corporation has to acquire lands in the stretch of 71.16 Kms in the metro route. But only 50.83 Kms Right of way is given to L&T.

GHMC promised to give the remaining 21 Kms Right of way by December end but failed to deliver. It is said there are several Court cases in this 21 Kms stretch and the government is not applying itself enough to solve the problems.

It is said that giving compensation to victims according to the new land acquisition act is the only solution to solve this issue but government is not so interested as the compensation will increase by several folds due to this new act.
