The adverse result of the GHMC elections is being attributed to TRS Working President, KT Ramarao. But there is a lot more than the eye meets there, the political experts say. TRS fortunes in GHMC can be divided on the basis of two factors.
The Ruling Party is getting support from the settlers in Western Hyderabad thanks to KTR‘s Tech-Savvy image, Real Estate Jump, and IT Development. And KCR’s Pro-Telangana image and the Government schemes were working on the native Telangana people who live in other parts of Hyderabad.
TRS fared extremely well in Kukatpally and Serlingampally circles where the above factors of KTR are expected to work. The remaining areas have slipped out of TRS’s hand mainly due to the disconnect of the Chief Minister with the people and the bad handling of the floods.
People toiled hard like never before in the floods and the Chief Minister did not even come forward to meet them. He did not even address the media on the issue much to the displeasure of the voters. They could not digest the fact that they were made to wait in serpentine queues at Meeseva centers for the flood assistance. And then, there are allegations of corruption by TRS leaders even in that assistance.
That is when the connection between the Telangana natives and KCR got kaput. The areas where the KTR factor worked and TRS got more votes were least affected by the floods. KTR is almost like the defacto CM of Western Hyderabad and the people there did not miss KCR. It is like KCR Failed and KTR Passed
