
AP Minister of Water Resources Nimmala Rama Naidu has said that their government’s objective of constructing a concrete wall at Budameru before the monsoon season has been successfully achieved.
The Minister inspected the CC wall and the works in progress. Speaking to the media, the Minister said that the temporary water paths were successfully filled and they took up the construction of CC wall with Rs 23 crore.

We removed the old gates of Budameru regulator at Velagameru and replaced them with new ones. Rs 1.8 crore was spent for them, said Nimmala. For strengthening the banks, we took up the construction of 7 km road between Velagaleru and Elaprolu.
From Enikepadu to Kolleru, Budameru drain is being cleaned for 57 km at a fast pace. We are making sure that the Budameru drain water goes to the sea through Kolleru to Upputeru. The works cost Rs 9 crore to clear the drains.

We have also proposed to increase the capacity of Enikepadu Under Tunnel from 4000 cusecs to 20,000 cusecs, Nimmala shared.
The country knows about the devastating Budameru floods that created havoc in the lives of people in and around Vijayawada, last year.

Chandrababu Naidu’s government has taken swift steps to ensure there is no such calamity this monsoon season.
