Initially, the Darshi ticket was not assigned to Gottipati. This segment was allotted to Jana Sena as part of the alliance.
TDP acquired the Darshi seat after Jana Sena secured the P. Gannavaram Assembly segment in East Godavari. Since then, there has been an influx of aspirants vying for the Darshi ticket.
At one point, former minister Siddha Raghava Rao also joined TDP in hopes of securing the Darshi ticket.
Reportedly, Ongole MP Chevireddy warned Siddha against joining TDP. However, amidst all this, CBN selected Gottipati Lakshmi for Darshi.
The people of the constituency gave an unprecedented welcome to Darshi TDP alliance candidate Gottipati Lakshmi.
As she entered the constituency for the first time on Thursday, from the initial village of Shankarapuram to Darshi, the TDP alliance’s ranks were invigorated at every step. The crowd in Darshi was electrifying.
The entire auditorium was packed with people, bustling with excitement.
The vehicle rally, led by Lakshmi and other leaders, lasted for four hours, covering a distance of 27 km. Alliance members from all corners of the constituency joined voluntarily, displaying unwavering support.
The joy of the alliance leaders knew no bounds as thousands of vehicles flooded the streets.
Throughout the journey, women and villagers came out to greet and extend their best wishes. It is estimated that more than 20,000 people attended the event.
Lakshmi, the granddaughter of the late former minister Gottipati Hanumantha Rao and daughter of former MLA Gottipati Narasiah, has been announced as the TDP candidate for the assembly.
Lakshmi, the wife of Dr. Lalitsagar, who hails from the TDP family in Narasa Raopet, was nominated by the leadership at the eleventh hour. She made her inaugural visit to the constituency on Thursday evening.
It is reported that TDP and Jana Sena members from various parts of the constituency, primarily in their own vehicles, participated enthusiastically, with a significant turnout of women.
