Govt Clarification: No Volunteers In AP

It looks like the future of the Volunteers is sealed after the change in the Government.

During the Question Hour in the Council, Minister Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy said the Volunteers System is no longer in existence.

“Volunteers have not been renewed by the then YSR Congress government. It is because of the actions of the previous government that the system no longer exists. We have tried to implement the promises given to the volunteers. But, how to pay salaries to non-existent employees? We would have continued if the system was in place,” the Minister said.

He also elaborated on what happened.

“From August 2023, the volunteer system will no longer exist. The previous government did not care about them. There are currently no volunteers in the state. The previous government continued them till August 2023 but did not renew them in September 2023. If the previous government had renewed them, they would have continued and would have got increased pay as we promised. We have paid the salaries of the volunteers till the month of May,” the Minister added.

While there are 2,63,000 volunteers in the state, 1,07,000 have resigned just before elections and worked for YSR Congress. Only 1,10,000 volunteers are still there.

The Resigned Volunteers are saying that they resigned under the pressure of YSR Congress leaders and their resignations should be canceled and taken into service.

But then, the public sentiment is not in favor of the volunteers. Almost everyone knows they are YSR Congress agents and they do not see a merit in the argument that the new government should continue them.

If they continue, they will snoop on the public and hand over the Government data to the Opposition.

So, there is no reason why this Government should care for the Volunteers.

The Prime responsibility of the Volunteers is the Pension distribution. It is happening door-to-door seamlessly without the Volunteers. So, the public sentiment is also against volunteers.
