Harish Rao Targets Revanth Reddy Over Krishna Water Dispute

BRS leader Harish Rao has launched a sharp attack on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over Krishna water sharing. He accused the Chief Minister of failing to protect Telangana’s water interests while Andhra Pradesh is diverting Krishna water towards Kuppam. He also questioned the government’s response to farmers struggling with irrigation and power supply.

Harish Rao has every right to question Revanth Reddy over Telangana’s water problems. Farmers need irrigation water and reliable electricity. They cannot afford to wait while political leaders trade accusations. The government must explain what steps it has taken to protect crops and ensure that farmers receive the support they need.

However, criticising Revanth Reddy is one thing. Using Andhra Pradesh’s water needs to attack him is another. Harish Rao’s remarks suggest that Telangana is losing out while Andhra Pradesh benefits. Such claims must be examined against official water-sharing agreements and project records.

Andhra Pradesh also has farmers who depend on Krishna water. They have their own irrigation needs and concerns. The people of the state cannot be blamed for decisions taken by their government. Political differences between Revanth Reddy and Chandrababu Naidu should not become a source of hostility between ordinary Telugu people.

The state’s division created genuine disputes over water, electricity and public resources. Repeatedly portraying Andhra Pradesh as the beneficiary of Telangana’s losses risks turning an administrative issue into a rivalry between the two states.

BRS’s focus should remain on the government’s performance and the solutions needed by farmers. The same applies to power supply and agricultural support.

Telangana’s interests must be protected. But that does not require creating resentment towards Andhra Pradesh. Farmers in both states need water, electricity and government support. They deserve solutions, not another political battle that divides people.
