Telangana politics is set for an important development today as Chief Minister Revanth Reddy visits Sircilla Assembly constituency for the first time since taking charge as Chief Minister. The constituency is represented by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR.
KTR has represented Sircilla since 2009 and has also served as Telangana’s IT minister. He is the son of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
Revanth Reddy’s visit includes the inauguration and foundation-laying of several development works. The programmes will focus on weavers’ welfare, education, women’s empowerment, temples, administrative infrastructure, agriculture and policing.
One of the major projects is the Young India Integrated Residential Schools in Sircilla and Vemulawada. The schools are being taken up at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore.
The proposed school complex at Peddur will come up on 18 acres and accommodate around 2,600 students from Classes 5 to 12. It will have 64 classrooms, dormitories, dining facilities, playgrounds and other infrastructure.
Revanth Reddy’s visit also carries a political significance because Sircilla is a prominent BRS stronghold represented by KTR. The Chief Minister has previously spoken about challenging the BRS leadership in its key constituencies.
Revanth Reddy has also spoken about taking on KTR in Sircilla and K. Chandrashekar Rao in Gajwel. His visit to Sircilla has therefore attracted considerable attention among political circles in Telangana.
KTR has already responded to Revanth Reddy’s proposed visit and raised questions about what the Chief Minister would tell the people of Sircilla. He also highlighted issues concerning farmers and weavers.
The Chief Minister’s visit will also include programmes related to Vemulawada temple development, government infrastructure, agricultural storage and women’s welfare. Several development works are expected to be inaugurated or launched during the visit.
With Revanth Reddy visiting KTR’s constituency for the first time as Chief Minister, Sircilla has become the focus of political attention in Telangana today. The development programmes and the reactions surrounding the visit are expected to add further significance to the event.
