HC applies brakes to TS, AP’s Tech savvy idea!

Hyderabad High Court had issued a stay on the directive of the Telugu governments to retail wine shop dealers directing them to install computers, printers and scanners in their shops. This step was taken to generate bills in accordance with the bar code, MRP and hologram on liquor bottles so as to put a check on belt shops.

The Wine Dealers’ Associations of both the states challenged this move as the same has not yet been done at the originating point i.e. distilleries. The prohibition and excise departments of both the states have warned them that supply of liquor will be stopped from Monday if they fail to install the computers.

The court directed the government to insist the distilleries first and then ask the retailers. The court also suspended the notices issued by excise officials and directed them not to stop supply of liquor to retailers in both states till further orders.
